The Magic Pixels gift guide
Gifts for readers who already have plenty of books
The safest reader gift may not be a book. If you do not know what they own, what they have already read, or whether they prefer print, audio or digital, give something that supports the way they read.
| Reading habit | Idea | Why it may fail |
|---|---|---|
| Borrows from the library | Rechargeable reading light | A clip can mark delicate covers; check its grip and charge method. |
| Carries a paperback | Padded book sleeve | Measure for their usual book size; large hardbacks need more room. |
| Owns and lends books | Personal book embosser | It is less useful for someone who rarely keeps physical books. |
| Jots down favorite lines | Reading journal | A highly structured journal may feel like homework. |
Ask one quiet question if you can: “Do you mostly borrow, buy or listen?” That answer is more useful than asking for a favorite genre. For an audiobook listener, a sleeve or embosser has little value; a comfortable pair of headphones might help, but only if you know what device they use.
Avoid ordering a personalized stamp until you confirm the name and spelling. For lights, check battery life, brightness and whether the light works in their usual position. If you are still uncertain, pair a simple bookmark with a note about a book they once recommended to you.
